Development Update 10/14/2021

Production Update (Nathan):

In addition to my usual production duties, this week we got a bunch of feedback from a variety of sources, and have been working through it to really improve upon what we are offering. Look for some big changes coming in the next week or so as we revisit our production pipelines, our narrative ambitions, and our interactive frameworks to make an experience that is AWESOME and sustainable given our current resources!

Research this week has included the 8th century BCE, Die Hard, Accounting, differentiation in game design, and Mechs. As heard in my meetings: “Battlestar Galactica delivers on politics AND violence AND sex. Some of those are harder to do than others in podcast form.”

Animation Update (Brianne):

This week I’ve been working on evaluating some of our long term strategies and plans. With a project as experimental as ours it’s hard to imagine what the future will hold, but we have a lot that we can learn from our past experiences on how to be better prepared for when similar situations happen again. On the animation front, I’ve been working on designing a few new ships and motion graphics for more of our upcoming content. The ships designed and built in Hypatia will have their own unique flavor compared to the ships included on the Ark that were manufactured back on Earth. Designing that new aesthetic, collecting references, and getting early feedback has been a lot of fun. I’m excited for when I get to share it with all of you!

Community Update (Christine):

Hey everyone! This week has been a busy week between real life and Celestial Horizons. As Nathan mentioned above, we’ve been gathering as much feedback as possible lately about the current layout of Dissonant Echoes. The fun part of being so experimental is that sometimes we try things and it just doesn’t work quite the way that we had envisioned it. With the feedback we’ve been getting, we’ve been working hard this week on coming up with a game plan and ideas to make things MORE interactive while still creating an interesting story. Stay tuned because a more official announcement about that is on its way! And as always, if you ever have any feedback on how we’re doing, please feel free to reach out to me (Christine) any time! We really want to make this as fun as an experience for YOU, our audience, as possible and we’re learning right along with all of you, so if there’s ever any way we can improve don’t ever hesitate to tell us! Thank you all so much for your support!
